Larceny -Our Barrel Pick 750ml Bottle

Price: $ 32.24

Our last barrel pick for 2020 is a special one. Heaven Hill distillery just started releasing Larceny as a barrel pick option within the past year and we were lucky enough to get to pick a barrel of it. About 10 Brown Water Society members gathered to taste from 3 different barrels of Larceny and pick their favorite. Once we decided, we bought all of the whiskey inside that barrel.
Larceny is a wheated bourbon meaning that instead of using rye in the recipe, the distiller replaces that rye with wheat in order to create a smoother, softer drink. Since it's only $30, made with wheat, and bottled at an approachable 92 proof, it makes for an excellent "starter" bourbon or just an excellent "drinker" for someone with sophisticated whiskey taste. Other well-known wheated bourbons are Weller, Old Fitzgerald, Maker's Mark, Pappy Van Winkle, and Rebel Yell.
Last week, Larceny Barrel Proof won "Whiskey of the Year" by Whiskey Advocate. This is the same mashbill and the same product that we picked, just bottled at barrel proof instead of our 92 proof. See...I told you we picked a good one!
The Larceny brand is inspired by the history of John E. Fitzgerald, who as a treasury agent in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s was one of the only people legally allowed to carry the keys to the barrel storage rickhouses (notice the key and keyhole on the bottle?). With a discerning palate for fine Bourbon, John E. Fitzgerald often used his rickhouse keys to gain access to some of the finest Bourbon barrels for himself. Those barrels from which he chose to help himself were often referred to as “Fitzgerald barrels” around the distillery.
Don't miss out on a chance to try this one of a kind bourbon from one of the best distilleries on the planet!
